Visa and Judopay strike a partnership

Judopay and Visa’s CyberSource partner to bring in-app payments to merchants globally

  • In-app payments forecast to be worth $1.2 trillion across North America and Europe by 2020¹
  • Businesses in 190 countries now offered rapid, simple mobile payments integration whilst retaining acquiring bank

Judopay, the m-commerce payments platform today announced a partnership with Visa to utilise the CyberSource payment management solution to offer consumers a more seamless digital payment experience, and greater choice in how they pay in mobile—via payment cards, card-on-file, wallets and at the point-of-sale.

Judopay provides merchants with a fast, simple way to accept in-app payments by offering development teams the flexibility to integrate in-app mobile payments technology with as little as three lines of code, whilst retaining their existing acquiring bank relationship. The partnership provides Judopay with extensibility to broaden its reach and offer in-app payments on a global scale using CyberSource’s payment management platform. The companies are working collaboratively to help accelerate the adoption of safe, reliable and convenient mobile payments for consumers and merchants—and help drive increased sales through simplicity and convenience.

The partnership comes at a time when mobile payments are predicted to grow twice as fast as traditional e-commerce², driven by consumer demand for anytime, anywhere, everywhere experiences through mobile and app adoption. Judopay’s slick interface and frictionless checkout experience helps increase conversion rates and revenues, whilst also helping protect against mobile fraud as businesses expand into new markets.

TLS & Security update & Deadline

Security is at the heart of what we do at Judopay and as a result, we ensure we’re always staying on top of the latest industry-wide security updates & changes, like PCI.

What is happening?

As you may be aware by now the PCI Security Council released the PCI-DSS 3.1. The main change related to the deprecating of TLS 1.0 & SSL 3.0 as recognised secure protocols. As stated in our previous emails this means that there are a few mandatory updates you need to be aware of.

From October 20th any connection (App/Web/API) to Judopay that is not using the following will not be able to process live transactions. read more

State of the in-app payment experience

I am often heard growling something along those lines (swearing omitted), when I try to complete a payment from my phone.

As the UX lead at Judopay, when faced with poor checkout experiences – that, I some years ago might have accepted as the painful way of things – now invoke similar reactions in me as when my older relatives are having ‘computer problems’, blood pressure included. read more

Xamarin Evolve 2016 re-cap — What we saw and learnt

Judo participated at Xamarin Evolve this year in Orlando. Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Xamarin, this space has gotten hotter so we decided to be in the midst of the action and leverage the hard work we have done thus far on this platform. Below I interview Janice and Luke, who represented judo at Evolve, to capture their thoughts from the event.

What did you think of the Keynote?

Luke: I really enjoyed it, I think it just shows the strength of the platform that, even with Build a month earlier lifting the veil on a lot of .NET news and Xamarin’s big bombshell for the year, they had a lot to talk about. I liked Miguel’s presentation better but that’s just cause he got to hand out all the developer goodies.

Janice: I thought it was a really well structured delivered keynote, it set the tone for the rest of the conference, strengthened the case for cross-platform native development, and addressed the implications of the recent acquisition head on. The whole theme of end-to-end DevOps lifecycle management gave context and framed the new features announcement nicely. Also, the slides were beautiful, big kudos to their design team, I was mesmerised by the color palette!

What I learned writing my first SDK

This summer, I came across an opportunity to write my first SDK, so I leapt at it. As developers, there is something very appealing about writing software for use by other developers. It might be because of the sense of solidarity that you’ve made life easier for sisters/brothers in code, or the thrill of a backseat driver finally getting a chance at the wheel. That is until the realisation that the demographic you’re serving will also be the best equipped to critique your output, this is especially true when producing an open source repository.

So below are some lessons (some key, some trivial) that I learned while coding judo’s Xamarin SDK.

The elephant in the retail room: going native vs keeping legacy

Mobile now accounts for more than a quarter of all e-commerce transactions globally, and that number is increasing rapidly as our shopping behaviour continues to shift towards mobile first. The speed of commerce growth on mobile channels is now 3 times faster than on traditional e-commerce channels. UK commuters are already spending £9.3bn a year on the supercomputers in their pockets. We are increasingly trained to expect the purchasing experience on mobile to not only be easy but also fast. Which is why an overwhelming 69% of consumers would abandon a purchase if the checkout process within an app or website is not optimised for mobile devices.

Why is it then, that most of the top 100 retailers in the UK are still failing to offer customers a quick and seamless native mobile checkout experience?

How iOS 9 will improve Apple Pay

iOS 9 will give you the ability to add brand loyalty cards into Wallet (the new Passbook), so you can earn and redeem rewards while paying with Apple Pay. This is an important improvement because now consumers will have another reason to choose Apple Pay as their payment method of choice. Not only is Apple Pay easy, quick and secure, it is now also rewarding to use.
